you know how you TRY to make something for the first time..
(and iphone pics – excuse the wonky color)
ya see.. i have all these freaking great neighbors and friends.. who bring treats at Christmas time.. my kids wanted to return the favor.. sooo.. Emily and I sat down and chose some yummy looking treats..
we had a very nice list.. all said, “easy” on the recipe..
coconut balls..
coconut strawberry things (of course, with my pregnant brain i grabbed the raspberry jello – so they were doomed from the start),
some graham cracker toffee pecan thing,
english toffee,
and peanut butter balls..
we shopped.. we planned.. we prepared..
we failed..
horribly..
these are the coconut ball things.. they are SO GOOD.. but sooooo ugly.. and HOW THE HELL DO YOU DIP these things in chocolate???.. i even chilled them.. ugh.. i finally just FLUNG chocolate on them..
my gosh.. they are good though.. almond extract in them too.. y.u.m
peanut butter balls.. YUMMY .. but again.. CAN NOT dip.. i do not understand this concept..
in Kindergarten, I did not pass the “skipping” thing.. and it still takes all of my brain power to skip with the kids.. it is so difficult to me..
i find the candy/treat making to be on the same level..
next year… i will give each a bottle of wine.. WITH a bow..
now.. i will say, the toffee turned out not bad looking or tasting..
i will stick to Picture taking as my creative outlet..
on the Children’s side of things.. The kids embraced and are immensely proud of the messy results of their decorating activity..
Coop’s Santa house..
AND oh.. my.. what a mess!!! it took two days to get everything cleaned from this venture..
seriously.. next year..
