now that life is calmer.. and i am calmer.. i notice so much more beauty in everyday stuff.. in the interactions of kids and parents.. of interactions between couples.. between my kids.. intangible

this is for our Christmas Card.. i worked on this grouping the week of our theme.. i just am struck by how these two get along.. they enjoy each other so much

i couldn’t ask or hope for a better relationship between them.. they are so different.. but they love each other..

BLACK AND WHITE

soooo sorry I got soooo behind!  this time of year is insane

last year at Thanksgiving time we were in Charleston/Savannah area.. gorgeous.. lovely seeing family and friends.. but man… it sure was nice to be home this year..  i cooked an okay dinner.. i have no track of time when i am pregnant, so it was kind of funny trying to get everything to come out on time.. oh well, Tom was just happy to have Turkey..

most of what we did for the week of Thanksgiving (and the week after) involved a complete reorganizing/decorating of the kids bedrooms.. this was the Girl’s Bedroom stuff… can’t wait to share the finished room with you.

BEAUTY..

you know i love living out here in Kansas.. i love the Plains.. i just feel calm when i drive out and there is nothing blocking my view – as far as i can see.. i just breathe better.. so that was the inspiration for this theme..

so this kind of turned in to more of a sunset pic.. but it still gives me the same calm feeling..

for this one.. i really wanted us to play with depth of field and getting in super close.. nailing the focus..

here are our attemps at MACRO – with or with out MACRO lenses..

but when i took mine.. i was moving too much.. and it was dark.. so it’s a bit – well, not super sharp.. and noisy.. i like it though..

crazy behind posting these 52 weeks posts.. i’m so sorry!  I have been swamped with photography work… and you know life gets CRAZY this time of year.. so let’s knock these out right quick..

MACRO

off to post that one..

so much going on around here.. getting largely pregnant.. trying to get things ready for the kids to swap rooms.. this include painting.. crafting.. too much!  Cranking out Christmas Card and awesome Christmas Gifts for Clients families…  and we went on a little trip to the Great Wolf Lodge..

 i just had to pretend germs did not exist that weekend..

we are not going Anywhere for the entire Holiday season..

we could not be happier..

last year it was nice seeing family and friends back East.   but ya know.. it’s really nice to spend time with just our family.. slow, relaxed.. laughing.. decorating..

we are really looking forward to it..

I have quite a few more cards and things left to design.. and ONE final session for the year..  a ton of other things to design and order, but once I get all these cards designed and ordered, I can slow down a bit and share some more.. and get the 52 week posts caught up!!!

this week is “Thanksgiving”.. interpret as you like!

this is normally a busy time of year photography speaking.. it is just a bit insane with family portraits.. and I squished 12 sessions in to a week.. and then the travel.. and being pregnant.. and then all the Fall Parties and goings on.. I felt like I was going crazy last week!  it really was just busy..  i am putting the family and myself first – which – um.. i never put myself first.  but i can’t risk getting sick.. and I want to spend time with the kids.. so any work I’m doing while the kids nap/sleep.. it’s a bit tricky.. but it’s working.. i’m not going insane..

i will do our family pictures soon.. i like taking pictures of them at this time of year.. i guess i should do it before it gets cold.. i don’t work when it’s cold.. not outside anyway!..

here is my abby again.. busy picking cool grasses in the back. the light was pretty.. she wouldn’t be bothered to look up..

Kelly M.  had some extra family for a few days and was doing her very best to keep them.. yeup… BUSY

TREASURE

so.. i said i got the SHINY theme because the week before I was really missing my kids.. and abby has such SHINY hair.. it really is.. it’s like barbie doll hair.. it is quite golden too.. it would have been a great pick for last week..

BUSY..

because.. HOLY MOLY.. i got home from my trip East.. and was sick with a cold.. had TONS of things to catch up on at home.. and a mountain of work ahead (which i’ve only just barely begun)

so I was back in Abingdon, Virginia when I chose this theme.. every moment of those days I was watching the sky and the light.. the sunlight.. and the sunlight there is gorgeous just before sunset this time of year..

here is mine.. everything is kissed in golden light – and of course the trees are golden

which of course is a lot warmer.. and your portraits may end up with people with wonky skin.. and wonky colors if you don’t adjust for it..

makes me want to go back to Europe..  i never took a good camera with me when i traveled – was always traveling for fun before i got married.. i would love to go with my camera now and see it all again..
