i’ve decided to not center my text anymore.. so.. there..

i took this the other night.  we had been outside all day.. playing in the pond, soccer games, family frisbee challenge – emily was exhausted..

after a shower-bath (emily’s very favorite), she got in her jammies and was quick to get in bed.  before i could even get in to tuck her in, she was fast asleep..

i can not wait for Summer!!

i really really really wanted to get the house tidied inside this weekend.. knowing Sunday was going to be a rainy day, I had high expectations of a perfectly tidy house.

BUT.. it stopped raining.. my people went outside.. with the exception of the littlest.. I told her she had to pick up her friends (stuffed animals) prior to heading outside.. then i walked in a few minutes later.. she was in her ballet get up.. she decided to reorganize her dresser.. (not allowed – as if, I spent a lot of time getting her room exactly how I wanted it…)  i looked at her and said, “emily, this is not acceptable..  this is soooo messy.. it’s just too messy.. ”  she replied, “mom, you know kids do this, right?”  i said, “do what?”  she looked at me with complete sincerity, “kids, they make messes”..

immediately, i stopped trying to having things perfect and live in the moment (this is not something that comes natural to me.. i have to make myself chill out often). i grabbed my camera and captured the demolition… and while watching her reorganize, i realized it is her room.  she wants her clothes organized how she wants them.  her toys how she wants them.  she is 4.. she isn’t a baby.. ugh.. but, she soooo IS a baby.. she is MY baby..

this is what i found when i went to tuck emily in tonight..

she spent the afternoon riding bikes and making a tire swing with daddy.. hence her pink cheeks..

out of nowhere Emily runs up to me… “mom, ya think Hukes of Dazzard is on???” and then she breaks in to song – “East Bound and Down, Eighteen Wheels a roooooollin’ we’re gonna do what they say can’t be done… “.. i said, ya know, that’s not the HUKES song, she defends with “but it’s a GREAT song.. it’s our FAMILY song.. “

we are trying very hard to reclaim bedtime.. Tom has decided to be sick – the man rarely gets sick.. when he does get sick, he.is.pitiful and worthless..

I just checked to make sure the earlier tuck in and hugs and kisses worked and that everyone was asleep.. Cooper – fast asleep – arms above head – completely out..  Abby – snoozing..

emily..not asleep.. eyes obviously closed extra tight to appear as though she is completely asleep..

me.. “you need to go to sleep baby”

she replied in a whisper with her thumb in her mouth, eyes tightly closed, “shhhhh, I’m asleep already”

poor abby… emily drew a family picture and left abby out..

i know i should not have laughed.. but i totally did..

abby = crushed

then i had a talk with emily.. and a talk with abby.. all is okay

emily just woke up.. usually she is a grump when she gets up.. but this morning she was singing – very matter of factly..

“I’d like to spit some beaches in that DUDE’s eye and shoot him with my forfty five”…
